ECT support process
Please refer to the support documents below to guide you through the ECT support plan process. This process is summarised in the flow chart provided and is a vital part of supporting ECTs' development and progress. It should be used in conjunction with your school's existing support programme and, where applicable, any capability procedures.
We recognise that induction is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Our aim is to support both schools and ECTs throughout this journey. In most cases, ECTs who receive additional support - underpinned by the ITTECF - go on to become confident and successful teachers. The support plan process should therefore be reviewed as a positive and nurturing scaffold, designated to provide tailored support at different stages of induction.
